The Lycadican CRPG effort was initiated shortly after the launch of the Linux
Game Breeders. Not long after the posting of this project
an article on the new game breeders site posted to slashdot quickly fostered
developers for the project. There are currently over twenty developers with
skills ranging from programming in C++ to artificial life techniques. Of course
we're always on the look out for more developers and graphics artists familiar
with 3D rendering techniques.

The goal of the project is to create a free, open, quality RPG
game for the Linux platform. Current design specs further this goal by allowing
the creation of a numerous amount of game modules. Much like traditional modules
for Pen and Paper role playing games Lycadican's modules allow for additions of
various worlds, storylines and character types.
This project should not be confused with the Lycadican FPRG. The Lycadican
CRPG is a computer based RPG that is based on the Lycadican FRPG
but they are not the same: close though.

Currently we are in the planning and design stage of the game. Various ideas
have flown about and we are getting some specifications done. Our current
issues are the module definitions, event model and character classes.
We are also designing the networking and interfacing with the Altima,
now WorldForge project.

Special thanks are due to Laurance Brockman for hosting a mirror of the Lycadican
web site and handling the mailing lists, and Jack of the Altima group for starting us
out with the lycadican.altima.org domain name before we got our own.
Thanks are also due to all of the team members for their enthusiasm and
excellent ideas.
